Communities across Cook County have been immobilized by medical-related debt which has caused individuals to stray away from seeking needed medical attention. To ease the burden of debt accumulated throughout Cook County hospitals, the Cook County government will partner with RIP Medical Debt to abolish up to $1 billion in medical debt for Cook County residents. Our fight will continue as we seek to relieve Cook County residents of medical debt and encourage community members to seek medical attention without the fear of past medical debt preventing them from doing so.
